World Kindness Day

Despite times of uncertainty and the recent challenges facing individuals across the globe due to COVID-19, acts of kindness to those struggling and in need have still shone through.

World Kindness Day

On 13th November 2020 World Kindness Day was observed. This day was introduced in 1998 by the World Kindness Movement, a coalition of the Nations' kindness Non-Government Organisations. During these uncertain and stressful times, both physically and mentally for individuals, kindness has never been so prevalent.

Kindness, a simple but powerful word, offers nothing but a positive impact when it comes to emotional resilience, managing stress, personal confidence and building relationships, whether with neighbours, friends, colleagues or family members.

At InterBay Asset Finance we ran a staff-led campaign in aid of World Kindness Day and have been delighted to share stories from three members of staff.

These stories showcase activities that many people have done, or are doing currently, and offer a reminder of the kindness that has been shown to not only friends and families, but to strangers throughout this difficult time and that no one should have to be alone if they are struggling.

We share these stories below:

Kindness means to me …. sharing a random girl's LinkedIn post as she was looking for a job, I don't know her, I just wanted to help her find a job, and every share helps ... Sally Chesterton, Senior Regional Sales Manager

Kindness means to me …. paying for an elderly man’s car parking ticket at the hospital, as he only had coins and the machine would only accept card… Sophie Aitken, Internal Sales Manager

Kindness means to me …. Pre-covid I was having dinner with a couple of friends and next to us sat a young couple who caught my eye – they seemed very much in love, it was clear they were looking for the cheapest items on the menu, so when I paid our bill, I asked the waitress if I could pay theirs too without telling them as I just wanted to do something for them... Paul Fazakerley, Managing Director
